Upside Names Eliza Sydney Senior Director of Implementation and Insights
The account leader and certified end-of-life doula joins Upside to lead health plan program launches and the reporting behind them.
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — Upside, a nationally scalable housing stability platform purpose-built for healthcare, today announced that Eliza Sydney has joined the company as Senior Director of Implementation and Insights. Sydney brings account leadership experience across health and wellness programs, along with years of direct care work supporting patients and families. She will lead the implementation of new health plan programs and own the reporting and insights that show what those programs produce.
Sydney joins as Upside scales its work with health plans addressing housing instability across Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, and D-SNP populations. Standing up a housing program with a health plan takes referral pathways, data exchange, and market readiness before a single member is reached. Once the program is live, partners need a clear view of what is happening in the field and what it is changing. Sydney owns both ends of that: getting programs running and turning day-to-day housing work into the outcomes health plan leaders can act on.
Before joining Upside, Sydney served as Senior Account Manager at SoHookd, a health and wellness rewards platform, managing client relationships and program performance. She also works as a harp therapist, end-of-life doula, and Reiki practitioner with Empath Health, and served as Artist in Residence in the Arts in Medicine department at Moffitt Cancer Center. Sydney holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and sustainable agriculture from Warren Wilson College and holds certifications in vibroacoustic harp therapy and harp therapy through the International Harp Therapy Training Program. She previously served as Vice President of Row for the Cure and on the board of Meals on Wheels.
“Most of my career has been spent sitting with people during the hardest moments of their lives, and what I have learned is that presence matters more than process,” said Eliza Sydney, Senior Director of Implementation and Insights of Upside. “Upside does that at scale. Our Care Guides stay with a member until the housing problem is actually solved, not until a referral is closed. My job is to get those programs running quickly and then show our partners exactly what the work is doing for their members, so they can build on it.”
Sydney’s appointment reflects Upside’s continued investment in the operational depth behind its model. As more health plans turn to housing as a lever for better outcomes and lower cost, Upside is building the capacity to support them — helping members solve housing problems to completion so the lease gets signed and the ER visits stop.
About Upside
Getting housed takes knowledge, time, and money. Most people are short at least two. Upside is a housing stability platform that brings all three — partnering with health plans and employers to find members and employees facing housing instability and work the problem to completion. Dedicated Care Guides, housing specialists trained in behavioral health engagement, own each case from first call to signed lease, supported by AI-assisted housing orchestration built to make them faster, not replace them. Upside serves Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, D-SNP, commercial, and employer-sponsored populations across the full housing continuum, from crisis to long-term tenancy support. Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
